New post on Children & Families Committee in addition to assignments on Energy, Higher Ed and Ways & Means Committees
(STATE HOUSE, BOSTON) — Rep. Josh S. Cutler has been appointed to serve as House Vice-Chair of the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities.
This committee has legislative oversight over a number of state agencies, including the Department of Children and Families (DCF), the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA), the Department of Youth Services (DYS) and the Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
“I am honored by my appointment as vice chairman of this important committee, which plays a key role in setting policy that can have a beneficial impact on the lives of many of the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable residents,” Cutler said. The Committee also works closely with the Department of Early Education and Care as well as the Department of Mental Health
In addition to his promotion as vice chair, Cutler was re-appointed to serve another term as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Joint Committee on Ways and Means, the legislature’s key budget-making posts. He was also reappointed to serve on the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities and Energy, which helps shape state energy policy. Rounding out his committee assignments, Cutler was tapped for the first time to serve on the Joint Committee on Higher Education.
“I’m very pleased to be able to help give our district a voice in the decision-making on such a wide range of policy areas. I’m excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work,” Cutler said. “I thank Speaker Robert DeLeo for recommending me for this leadership role and look forward to another productive term working to find bipartisan solutions and deliver results for Massachusetts.”
In addition to his legislative committee assignments, Rep. Cutler also serves as co-chairman of the bi-partisan Plymouth County Legislator Caucus.
