STATE HOUSE – A bipartisan coalition of Massachusettts lawmakers are commemorating national Energy Efficiency Day (#EEDay2021) on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 with the passage of a formal House resolution.
This resolution is part of a nationwide effort among business leaders, advocates and elected officials working to educate people about the benefits of reducing energy waste and saving money.
Energy efficiency is an economic engine, amassing a U.S. workforce of nearly 2.4 million by the beginning of this year. Ranging from professional services to manufacturing, installation, and construction, these good jobs are local and cannot be outsourced. Energy Efficiency Day is a collaborative effort of regional and national organizations, states and cities, businesses, utilities, universities, and individuals to highlight the benefits of energy efficiency and encourage action.
“This Energy Efficiency Resolution builds off of the work already done by the Legislature in advancing energy efficiency legislation, including our Energy SAVE Act which was signed into law earlier this year,” said Rep. Cutler (D-Pembroke), lead sponsor of the resolution. “We know that the cleanest and greenest kind of energy is the energy we don’t use in the first place and energy efficiency day is the perfect time to highlight these efforts .”
Organizations and individuals are encouraged to promote Energy Efficiency Day through social media using #EEDAY2021 to encourage residents to save money and save energy.
