Cutler named Freshmen Representative class president

House freshmen have elected Rep. Josh Cutler, a Duxbury Democrat, as their class president, an honor that comes with few responsibilities, but an honor nonetheless. This year’s House freshman class of 16 new members includes 15 Democrats and one Republican.

Cutler represents the 6th Plymouth District and succeeded Rep. Daniel Webster, who dropped out of last year’s race after winning the primary. Cutler is a former member of the Hull Board of Selectmen and the Duxbury Planning Committee, and he worked as editor and then publisher of his family’s owned newspaper, the Duxbury Clipper.

The freshmen selected Rep. Claire Cronin (D-Brockton) as class vice president, Rep. Marjorie Decker (D-Cambridge) as class treasurer, and Rep. Aaron Vega (D-Holyoke) as class secretary. Despite her entering the Legislature last session after winning a special election, the newly sworn-in lawmakers allowed Rep. Keiko Orrall (R-Lakeville) to vote as a “red-shirt freshman.”
